Spring Updates from the Board
The Board has been very busy over the winter, and several projects and improvements are planned for the lake and surrounding areas.
East Shore Drive Inlet Project
Work continues on improving water drainage along East Shore Drive. The goal is to direct runoff into the proper catch basins before it enters the lake, helping reduce the amount of sediment flowing back into the water.
Hydraulic Dredging Project
After three years of hydraulic dredging, the Board has decided to discontinue this method. While the process was successful in some areas, it proved cumbersome and was unable to reach several locations that were most in need of dredging.
The water retention pad located on L.O.C. property will now be removed. Materials from that area will be used to improve Lakeshore Drive and enhance access to the boat launch area. The L.O.C. common area will also be regraded and seeded to improve its appearance and usability for all members.
Bio-Dredging Project
The improved depth achieved in Pucker Huddle and the canal on the north end of the lake, combined with a reduction in algae-producing nutrients, has led the Board to continue dredging efforts using bio-dredging technology.
Areas of the lake not previously reached by the hydraulic dredging process will now be treated with bio-dredging this spring. Solitude, the company applying the DEP-approved products for this process, is scheduled to be on the lake May 27–28, weather permitting. Airboats will be used during the two-day application period.
Water Quality Management
Aqua-Link, the company selected by the Board, will be on the lake three times throughout the summer, beginning in mid-May. Their work will focus on water quality management, aquatic vegetation control, including lily pads and curly-leaf pondweed, and algae prevention.
All DEP permits required for Page Lake treatments have been secured through Aqua-Link.
Clubhouse Improvements
Visitors to the clubhouse this spring will notice the newly installed flooring, adding a polished finish to the ongoing improvements within the facility.
Tax Relief
The ongoing matter with the IRS has been resolved, resulting in only a minimal amount owed in fees. Additional details will be discussed during the annual Board meeting.
